Emirates NBD extends Manchester United partnership

Emirates NBD strengthened its on-going partnership with Manchester United Football Club with the launch of ’Emirates NBD Manchester United’ savings account and debit cards. The launch enables nearly one million UAE-based Manchester United fans to consolidate their relationship with their favourite football club through availing opportunities for exclusive benefits and unique experiences. The move also leverages Emirates NBD’s position as the exclusive financial partner for Manchester United Football Club in the UAE, and builds on the successful launch of Emirates NBD’s Manchester United credit cards in September last year. The bank’s partnership with Manchester United Football Club has been widely seen as one of the most successful sports affinity partnerships that the football club has signed across the world, with fans being offered substantial benefits when they apply for the branded cards. "As Manchester United’s official financial partner in the UAE, and as part of a family of prestigious sponsors of the club, Emirates NBD is delighted to announce this offering for the club fans here in the UAE," said Suvo Sarkar, General Manager, Retail Banking & Wealth Management, Emirates NBD. "The launch of the co-branded savings account and debit cards is a huge step in cementing our partnership with one of the leading football clubs in the world, and enables us to offer our customers, and UAE-based Manchester United fans, further chances of engaging with their favourite team, with once in a lifetime opportunities up for grabs." Richard Arnold, Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, added: "With nearly 1 million followers in the UAE, this is another wonderful way for our fans to engage with the Club. Our partnership with Emirates NBD has already proved a successful one, and I am delighted that we are able to extend our relationship even further." Targeting Priority and Personal Banking customers, the Emirates NBD Manchester United savings account will initially pay an interest rate of 0.25% to 0.50% that will be based on the number of goals scored by the Manchester United team, so the better the club performs the higher the earnings for customers. In addition, every AED 25,000 maintained in the Manchester United savings account will enable customers to enter quarterly draws to win tickets and travel packages for two, to see their team play at Old Trafford, autographed jerseys, pennants and other memorabilia. The co-branded debit cards linked to the savings accounts are available under two variants, Visa Platinum and Visa Signature, which allow customers to win themed prizes and experiences based on the monthly card spend. Existing Emirates NBD customers also have the opportunity sign up for the Manchester United banking packages, and participate in the program. Priority Banking customers signing up for the Manchester United programme will have a dedicated relationship manager, and will be eligible for preferential rates and fees, access to priority centres, and avail various lifestyle benefits.
