Sofitel The Palm Dubai Celebrates Another Sustainable Milestone With Iso 14001 Certification |

Sofitel The Palm Dubai has been awarded the international ISO 14001:2004 certification on 21st November 2014 for its outstanding implementation of the Environmental Management System, following a detailed EMS audit conducted by “German Cert”, a global certification and training institute, accredited by DAkkS in Germany. Sofitel The Palm Dubai became the first hotel property on Palm Jumeirah and within the Sofitel Luxury Hotel Brand in the MENA region to be awarded this coveted international ISO 14001:2004 certification. The resort has placed great emphasis on sustainability since its opening in July 2013 and as a result has already achieved the distinction of being the first “Green Globe Certified Hotel” within the Accor Group and on the Palm Jumeirah. “The resort has received many accolades during the year for its commitment towards sustainability, resulting from great team work and coordination between all departments across the entire hotel operations, where the ISO 14001 certification is not the last”, said Rohit Salunke, Director Of Engineering, who is a key driver of sustainability projects at Sofitel The Palm Dubai. The EMS process involves the implementation of various sustainable practices including waste recycling, energy conservation and environment awareness in line with the resorts’ environmental policy. The sustainable initiatives implemented support the strong commitment to sustainability of Accor Group whilst also having a positive effect on the bottom line. On achieving this certification General Manager, Christophe Schnyder commented, “This is an achievement we can be extremely proud of. Gaining this internationally recognised ISO 14001 certification confirms Sofitel The Palm Dubai’s commitment towards continuous improvement of sustainable policies and procedures and striving for a better tomorrow.”
