2016 Legatum Prosperity Index - UAE jumped from 34th position in 2015, to 28th position in 2016

The UAE hair transplant landscape has witnessed significant improvement over recent years. And with the availability of reliable experts and advanced proven techniques, Dubai is well positioned to lead the game.

“The field of hair transplant is constantly evolving in the UAE. In the past, patients with hair problems would travel to other countries for treatments. However, the latest medical advancements and standards of quality care have now bridged that gap. Patients have realised that UAE holds a top position today for hair transplants. It is new findings and revolutionary technologies have further boosted the growth,” said Dr Dimitrios Ziakas, General Manager, Direct Hair Implantation (DHI), Al Burj Medical Center.

In addition, UAE’s vision to rank among the world’s top 20 healthcare markets in the next four years, has let the Ministry of Health in the country lay down strict rules and regulations to ensure highest standards of quality.

According to the 2016 Legatum Prosperity Index, the UAE jumped from the 34th position in 2015, to the 28th position in 2016, in the report’s global healthcare rankings. The country remains committed to improving the level of care it offers residents, and aims to rise to the 20th position in the next four years, according to the Government’s Vision 2021 goals.

“UAE has a proud history of supporting innovation and we are making great strides to continue this momentum by promoting the best in hair transplant. In addition, Dubai scores high in credibility and confidence compared to other destinations. At DHI, we are extremely transparent in what we offer. Our treatment packages are cost effective and our expertise is unparalleled," said Dr Ziakas.

“Patients who have undertaken international surgery visits have witnessed unpleasant experiences, poor results, lost investment and loss of time. The financial aspect is really the same or sometime higher when they add the travel and accommodation expenses. In addition, it is difficult to follow-up on the treatment as you’re not a resident of that country,” added Dr Ziakas.

With over 30 affiliated centres worldwide and over 100,000 satisfied clients, DHI Medical Group has been at the forefront of bringing to the region pioneering technologies and techniques in hair transplant, direct scalp micropigmentation and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) among others. The clinic not only offers the best combination of treatment services, competitive packages and infrastructure, but also ensures complete safety to avoid the risk of any possible health hazards that may arise during transplant procedures.

“Hair transplants were once available to the rich and famous due to the extortionate costs involved, but now the procedure is gaining popularity across masses with Dubai being the chosen destination for effective treatment,” concluded Dr Ziakas.
According to a report by American Hair Loss Association, androgenetic alopecia – a term used to describe excessive hair damage accounts for over 95% of hair loss in men. Over 800 thousand patients are seeking some kind of treatment for hair loss worldwide.
