American Express Middle East survey shows significant change in spending habits across MENA region

Nearly two-thirds (59%) of luxury spenders in the MENA region are now choosing to spend more of their money on enriching experiences rather than goods, according to the new American Express Middle East Spending Survey*. This is markedly different from the results of a similar survey carried out by American Express Middle East in 2012, which showed respondents were most likely to spend their disposable income on tangible items such as high-end fashion, electronics and the latest cars.



Hong Kong Government to list US$1 billion Sukuk on Nasdaq Dubai

The Government of Hong Kong has announced plans to list its first successful offering of US$1 billion (AED3.68 billion) Sukuk on Nasdaq Dubai as part of its Government Bond Programme. SCAD issues quarterly report on non-oil merchandise trade

Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has issued its quarterly report on non-oil merchandise trade through the ports of the Emirate of Abu for Q2 2014 to support decision makers and businesses with accurate and up-to-date statistics on the non-oil merchandise that entered or exited the territory of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through the emirate’s ports (including air, sea and land ports) during the reference period.



ADPC, TCA Abu Dhabi take ’Cruise Abu Dhabi’ international

 The concept design of Abu Dhabi’s planned permanent cruise passenger terminal is to be unveiled later this month at Europe’s most prestigious cruise event, Seatrade Med 2014, from 16-18 September in Barcelona, Spain. The model is being showcased by Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) following an international design competition and extensive industry stakeholder input. An important element of the competition was the commitment to hire two leading Emirati architectural graduates, to join the project team for the development of the architectural design.

Japan's Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE), has said that more than a quarter of Japan's imports of crude oil during the month of July this year, came from the United Arab Emirates, with a quantity amounting to 25.47 million barrels.
