UAE to issue bonds by 2018

The UAE will look to help its banks meet liquidity requirements by issuing Federal Government bonds, possibly by 2018, according to an official at the Finance Ministry. In an attempt to comply with Basel III requirements, UAE banks, such as Emirates NBD and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, will be encouraged to buy some of the dirham-dominated debt.

Zayed Programme approves AED 1.1 billion housing aid

The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, SZHP, has approved the names of 1,369 beneficiaries of the 2nd batch of housing aid valued at AED 1.157 billion. The names of the beneficiaries were approved during a meeting chaired by Dr. Abdullah Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of SZHP. The approval is in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide Emiratis a dignified life since their welfare tops the priorities of the government.

The Economist praises Sharjah’s efforts in water conservation
The Economist, a weekly international news and business publication, has confirmed that Sharjah s per capita consumption of water is consistent with the recommendations of the United Nations, pointing to the emirate’s numerous efforts in water conservation. A report by Sharjah Media Centre mentioned that the magazine in its recent issue titled "The World in 2014", commended on the fact that daily water consumption in Sharjah is estimated at around 200 liters per person, which is the average recommended by the UN.
