In an effort to promote the importance of healthcare amongst its students and extended community, the Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD) hosted a healthcare day on campus on Thursday 11th February. The school’s partner Mediclinic City Hospital organised an informative healthcare exhibition which ran throughout the day and included several activations. Students, teachers and staff were encouraged to participate in the health awareness campaign, which offered free tests, including blood sugar tests, blood pressure tests, cholesterol checks and vision tests.
SISD is an advocate of healthy eating, opened its classroom doors to Ms Mona Joumaa, Clinical Dietitian, at Mediclinic City Hospital. Students from grade one to six were given an educational presentation on the basic food groups and the importance of taking care of the body as one’s lifelong asset. Additionally, the Dubai Blood Donation Centre, part of Latifa Hospital, provided a blood donation truck able to accommodate up to 60 donators, welcoming the SISD community including staff and parents to donate blood as part of the community healthcare drive.
SISD Head of School Mr Beat Sommer commented: “We are delighted and proud to be hosting Healthcare Day at the school as it reasserts our commitment to cultivating a health conscious future generation. At Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, we maintain our philosophy a healthy body is a healthy mind.”
