DEWA Organises First Divisional Excellence Forum

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised the Divisional Excellence Forum, at DEWA’s Warsan office.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised the Divisional Excellence Forum, at DEWA’s Warsan office. The forum aims to exchange the best excellence practices applied between divisions, and share the knowledge, experiences, initiatives and projects launched by DEWA’s various sectors, to enhance its leading position locally, regionally, and globally. This also supports the framework of DEWA’s efforts to ensure a culture of excellence between different sectors, and rank first in all areas, in line with the directives of Dubai’s wise leadership.

The forum was attended by over 200 employees. Distinguished initiatives from various sectors were reviewed, including knowledge management, innovation, and institutional performance development. A panel discussion was held with a number of representatives of the divisions, where they discussed ways to spread and disseminate knowledge, and ways to utilise these initiatives. At the end of the forum, the public selected the best two initiatives, and the winners and participating teams were honoured.

“At DEWA, we strive to achieve excellence in all fields. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said, ‘The march of excellence continues and does not stop at any limits it keeps going on from one stage to another. The race to excellence does not recognise any border or limitation.’ We are committed to consolidating the foundations of sustainable excellence and spreading its practices by providing a positive work environment that contributes to improving individual and institutional efficiency. This is done by implementing the best international practices in all our operations, and spreading a culture of excellence at DEWA among all stakeholders, according to the highest standards of total quality management and sustainable excellence standards,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“In the past few years, DEWA has achieved very competitive results in its global benchmarking, surpassing major European and American utilities.  DEWA achieved 3.28 customer minutes lost per year compared to 15 minutes in Europe. In addition, the UAE, represented by DEWA, ranked first in the world for getting electricity, according to the World Bank's Doing Business report 2018. The extensive report uses multiple criteria to measure the ease of doing business in 190 countries around the world,” added Al Tayer.

“The Divisional Excellence Forum is an important platform for the exchange of innovative and creative ideas among DEWA’s divisions. At DEWA, innovation is a key pillar in the development of services, initiatives, strategies and action plans. This comes in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and supports the Dubai 10X initiative, which sets the Government of Dubai on a mission to be a global leader that is 10 years ahead of other cities, through government innovation,” concluded Al Tayer.
