Dubai Ladies Club Launches "Academic Excellence" Package For Female High School And University Graduates In Dubai

Under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, President of Dubai Ladies Club and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dubai Ladies Club has launched an “Academic Excellence” package to congratulate high-achieving female high school graduates across the nation and university graduates in Dubai on their academic achievements.

The package provides free Dubai Ladies Club membership for three months to Emirati high school and university female graduates who have achieved a 95% score in their final exams and a 3.6 average GPA, respectively, to demonstrate the Club’s pride in these academic achievers and celebrate their efforts for the academic year 2017/18. The package is also designed to spread happiness amongst the female graduates by providing them with an opportunity to enjoy the Club’s services and facilities during the summer break, ahead of the new academic year.

Lamia Abdulaziz Khan, Director of Dubai Ladies Club, said that this new initiative from Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was launched in parallel with this year’s announcement of high school grades, and comes in line with the Club’s community activities during the ‘Year of Zayed’.

Sheikh Zayed’s values

Lamia Abdulaziz Khan highlighted that the “Academic Excellence” package reflects the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who strongly encouraged women to pursue education, achieve their goals and contribute to the UAE’s development journey. Thanks to his wise vision, Emirati women have excelled to reach the highest levels across all sectors, and play an important role in strengthening the UAE’s standing internationally. The UAE was ranked first worldwide in the ‘literacy rate’ indicator in the Global Gender Gap Report and the ‘secondary enrolment gender gap’ indicator in the Human Capital Report by the World Economic Forum. The director of Dubai Ladies Club also emphasized that women make up 70% of university graduates today, up from just 11.1% in 1971, and that 56% of the UAE’s graduates in science technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at government universities are women, which highlights their interest in specialized fields.

Lamia Abdulaziz Khan added that this initiative comes in line with the wise leadership’s objectives to acknowledge the achievements of remarkable students, and encourage them to continue on their path of success and creativity. This commitment is reflected by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s surprise phone calls to congratulate academic achievers and encourage them to continue their journey of success.

Manal bint Mohammed and her support for women

Lamia Abdulaziz Khan said that Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is keen to encourage young talent and support women of all levels and age groups, by launching initiatives that make women happy and motivate them to achieve further success and excellence. These efforts come in line with the wise leadership’s commitment to support the people of the UAE, with a focus on the youth, who will continue the UAE’s journey towards new horizons of excellence and achievement.

Lamia Abdulaziz Khan congratulated the female high school and university graduates, highlighting that they are making their family and nation proud, and wished them success in their future endeavors. She also welcomed the graduates who will benefit from the initiative. The graduates will have access to all facilities at Dubai Ladies Club, which boasts the only ladies-only beach in Dubai, and consistently works to support the social, physical and cultural well-being of members, to fulfill its vision of being the home of happy, healthy women.
