Students of International School of Creative Science, Sharjah Win Top Honours in University Competition |

Students at ISCS International School have showcased their academic prowess by scooping top honours at a regional inter-college competition. Pupils from the institution, which is part of the Bukhatir Education Advancement and Management International (BEAM), walked away with first prize in the business category and third prize in engineering & computing at the annual Rochester Institute of Technology University (RIT) event, the first time the school has participated in the contest. “ISCS is extremely proud of all of its students who participated in the school’s first ever RIT competition. The extremely hard work and efforts from all concerned resulted in ISCStriumphing at the event,” said [Mr Mohammad Saleem Bhudye, Chief Information Officer, BEAM]. “The awarding of first place for its business category entry and third place for engineering & computing is testimony that ISCS is equipping its students with the right skills to compete in an academic career after schooling, as well as imbuing them with vital attributes that will serve them well as they enter the adult world,” he added. The RIT competition sees each school taking part by sending four students to undertake a task for business and one for engineering &computing. The projects are devised by the RIT Business, Engineering & Computing faculty, who formulate them to be challenging, engaging and fun.Each task is only revealed on the day itself, with all materials for project completion provided on the campus during the event. Guidance is given on the day for both categories, with rules and instructions governed by the RIT Dean and professors at the university. The 2014 RIT competition was the fifth such event that the university has held, with a total of 21 schools for the Business Competition and 19 schools for the Engineering & computing. The competition has grown over the years, with local schoolsand their students encouraged to participate by having the opportunity to experience instant project-based activities at university level, which have been designed to equip them with the skills to succeed in further education. All students competing in the competition receive a 10 per cent discount off their tuition fees at RIT for the forthcoming academic year. “The success of our students at ISCS’ inaugural participation at the RIT competition is a fantastic endorsement of the ISCS curriculum, which is to provide a rich, stimulating and diverse academic environment,” said [Mr Walid Ramadan, Principal, ISCS]. “ISCS aims to deliver a method of teaching, which incorporates the National Curriculum and which provides learning experiences that are enjoyable, challenging and promote critical thinking,” he added.
