UAE Begins Negotiations With Thailand On MOU To Combat Human Trafficking Crimes











The United Arab Emirates and Thailand organized the first of a series of meetings of negotiation on September 15, 2014, in Abu Dhabi to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two countries, aimed at reinforcing international cooperation to combat human trafficking crimes.

“These meetings reflect the keenness of the UAE to strengthen international cooperation to eliminate trafficking crimes, which pose a threat to human society. Success in this endeavor is possible only through high level coordination between countries,” said His Excellency Dr. Saeed Mohammad Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs in the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and member of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.

“The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking seeks to look at all the developments related to these crimes in order to counter the continuing challenges in this area and to find appropriate solutions to the problems facing trafficking victims,” added Dr. Al Ghafli.

The meeting was attended by the UAE representatives from the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Labor, Public Federal Prosecutions, and "Eewa’a" centers. From the Thailand side, the meeting had representatives from International Affairs Department, Office of the Attorney General, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Bureau of Anti-Trafficking in Woman and Children, Royal Thai Police, Anti Human Trafficking Division and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
