Al Yousuf Group initiates Energy Saving Awareness Campaign











“Saving energy is about adopting simple measures in our everyday lives”, says Mr. Eqbal Al Yousuf, President of Al Yousuf Group. “In a day and age where survival without electricity is impossible, it is imperative that we begin to consume energy efficiently in order to preserve the environment as well as save costs.”

In an effort to create awareness about smart energy consumption, Al Yousuf Group has embarked on a campaign to promote energy-saving practices across Dubai. As part of the campaign, a wide range of energy-saving products and solutions will be displayed by the Group across select shopping malls in Dubai. The Group intends to interact with mall visitors at road-shows and create wide-spread awareness on the technologies available today that help save energy and costs by a large margin.

“Our aim is to raise the level of awareness and encourage people to use smart technologies that consume less energy. Every action at home and work presents an opportunity to optimize saving. The simple effort of raising the A/C thermostat 3 degrees when leaving home, for example, or setting the light sensors in offices to switch off when employees leave for more than 5 minutes, can result in massive saving,” Mr. Al Yousuf adds.

In cases where energy saving lighting and climate solutions have been installed in buildings by the Group, an immediate saving of 15 to 20 per cent over florescent lighting and further 10 to 15 per cent in climate control has been recorded. “By switching to LED lights, the saving for hotels, restaurants and homes where incandescent lights are in use can be over 80 per cent. This is by simply reducing watt consumption and lowering heat emitted from these lights,” Mr. Al Yousuf says.

The campaign will showcase saving possibilities in a variety of applications at home, with payback periods not exceeding three years, such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and dish washers from LG Home Appliances that consume less electricity and water while providing high performance.

The campaign will also highlight the LG LED lighting lamps, which offer up to 80 per cent saving in comparison to incandescent lights, apart from built-in presence/motion sensor lights, which operate only upon sensing presence and provide even further saving.

For the outdoors, a range of products will be presented including solar lights and solar hybrid golf carts in a variety of shapes, sizes and capacities. Further, the campaign highlights Green Roofing solutions, an environmental application that offers great saving potential for buildings while adding more appeal to the city’s landscape. Green Roofing solutions offer significant reduction in energy consumption by insulating buildings from heat.

For hi-tech transportation solutions, the Group is introducing Phoenix electric vehicles of which the first model is a 100 per cent electric shuttle with a range of up to 160 kilometer per charge.

“We strive to provide comprehensive and innovative solutions for energy saving in line with the UAE’s direction to make our cities highly efficient. Such target requires the tools and means which we provide and extend our social responsibility to create awareness within our communities. We aim to encourage people to be more involved and participate actively in achieving this goal,” Mr. Al Yousuf added.

The campaign will run in some of the major shopping malls throughout Dubai until the 3rd of October, 2014.
