’ADP Traffic’ Intensifies Patrols Near Malls And Abattoirs |

As part of its preparations for Eid Al-Adha, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police is deploying its patrols on internal and external roads, and near abattoirs, markets, malls, and mosques. This step aims to streamline traffic and reduce causes of traffic accidents, and is part of the “Your safety” campaign and the Eid Al-Adha awareness initiative by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in cooperation with the Traffic and Patrols Directorate. Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, called upon motorists to: adhere to traffic laws and regulations, avoid speeding on internal and external roads, use seat belts that provide high-levels of protection in the event of accidents, and to make sure that children are seated in the back of the car and not roaming around the vehicle. Brigadier Eng. Al Harithi warned against the preoccupations of replying to Eid greeting texts and urged motorists to avoid talking on the phone while driving. He said, “Talking on the phone distracts people from the road and leads to traffic accidents, which subsequently lead to severe injuries and death. Motorists are advised to use an earphone to talk on their mobile phones and to ensure that their children are seated in the back of the vehicle if they are 10 years of age or younger.” Brigadier Eng. Al Harithi also called upon motorists and the public to cooperate with patrol officers who aim for their safety. He urged for them to contact the Central Operation Room in the unlikely event of an accident. Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi, Head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department, Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said, “We are intensively deploying patrols on the external roads that exhibit higher traffic during Eid Al-Adha. We control the roads and raise awareness among motorists in order to reduce traffic accidents. Our efforts contribute to our goals of a happy, accident-free holiday. We wish everyone a joyful and peaceful holiday.” Colonel Al Bloushi called upon motorists on external roads to adhere to speed limits, check the vehicles’ tires, use their seatbelts, and to maintain a sufficient distance between vehicles. Colonel Al Bloushi also urged truck drivers to comply with load limits and to avoid a load that is above 60 cm in order to avoid traffic accidents as a result of an over-loaded truck. Truck drivers were also urged to refrain from over-taking buses or other vehicles. Furthermore, Colonel Al Bloushi advised all motorists to focus and to pay attention, follow traffic signs, and contact the Central Operation Room in the event of any breakdown. Major Salah Abdullah Al Hemairi, Acting Head of Al Ain Traffic Section, said, “The Al Ain Traffic Section will intensively deploy traffic patrols across Al Ain on the internal and external roads inside the city in order to avoid traffic jams, bad behaviors of some of the motorists, and to control the roads in an efficient manner. The traffic patrols will focus on Eid prayer locations, abattoirs and the touristic attractions in Al Ain, such as Green Mubazzarah, Jebel Hafeet and Hili Fun City; in addition to residential and commercial areas, parks and other places.” Captain Hamad Awad Al Menhali, Acting Chief of the Western Region Traffic Section, said, “The section is ready to welcome the Eid Al-Adha and will intensify our patrols around the Eid prayer area and all areas leading to the mosques in Liwa, Zayed City, Ghayathi, the port, Al Ruwais, and Dalma Island. We will also deploy more patrols on external roads to secure the international road towards the border throughout the day in order to maintain the safety of road travelers.” |
