UAE Delegation Holds Consultative Meetings With ICT Ministers Of Russia And Zambia During The 2nd Day Of The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference











The UAE official delegation pursued its untiring activities and efforts at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2014 through holding further bilateral meetings with ICT Ministers and heads of delegations. The second day agenda included meetings with the delegations of the Federal Republic of Russia and Zambia.

Commenting on the strategic importance of this meeting, Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of Russia said: "We are witnessing a steady increase in the number of Russian citizens visiting the United Arab Emirate and we look forward to enhancing cooperation efforts with the UAE TRA by signing memorandums of understanding relating to international roaming prices and data packages while traveling in order to ensure a pleasant travel experience for our citizens.”

“Areas of potential collaboration also include the development of ICT sector in both countries with focus on ICT software. We are confident that these meetings will establish a solid ground for further future collaboration between companies in both countries which in turn contributes in supporting the global ICT industry in general. Moreover, we recognize the leading role played by the United Arab Emirates at the regional level in addition to the advanced infrastructure and services and the unique logistic support provided in the UAE,” he added.

H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of the TRA praised the efforts of the UAE official delegation and their consultative meetings with delegations participating in the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference. "These consultative meetings come in compliance with the UAE’s keenness to extend bridges of cooperation, develop strong relations with different world nations, and exchange views and insights on the future policies and ways of cooperation,” he said.

"The purpose of this meeting is to increase levels of cooperation and develop mutual relation with the United Arab Emirates. Since technology is key in achieving sustainable development, we look forward to exchanging best practices, knowledge and expertise in order to launch a special international ICT program and we reaffirm our support to the UAE nomination file for membership of the ITU Council in Asia,” said Colonel Panji Kaunda Deputy Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications of Zambia.
