Abu Dhabi E-Government Celebrates Successful Participation At GITEX 2014

Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the Government entity in charge of Abu Dhabi’s ICT agenda, successfully hosted 22 Abu Dhabi government entities under one same roof at this year’s edition of GITEX.

During the five-day event, a very large number of people visited the Abu Dhabi e-Government pavilion to explore over 20 different smart applications and 70 electronic services - the latest in IT offerings from the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

“It was our privilege to host so many government entities at GITEX and to show the world how Abu Dhabi is continuously working to find new and improved ways to make life easier and more convenient for its local and expat residents. This was the ideal platform to demonstrate the range of services that are easily available for end-users,” said H.E. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General at ADSIC.

Visitors who made it to the Abu Dhabi e-Government pavilion were certainly impressed by the various products and technologies unveiled and showcased, including the many VIPs who stopped by to get a glimpse at the latest apps and software offerings, including HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Crown Prince of Dubai,  HE Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Hamed, HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Deputy Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan - Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, Lieutenant General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’afar - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raissi - Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, HE Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hamadi - Minister of Education, HE Ahmad bin Humaidan - Director General of Dubai Smart Government and HE Eng. Fahad bin Mohammed Al Jubeir, Mayor of the Easter Province - Saudi Arabia.

One of the most popular innovations at the Abu Dhabi e-government’s 1591 square metres pavilion was displayed by the Judicial Department. It’s Abu Dhabi Mobile Court – in the form of an ultra-modern bus – definitely turned some heads at GITEX 2014. Visitors were all over this world-wide mobile novelty, which is set to travel across the Emirate raising awareness on a number of legal matters and offering services to select audiences.

Other entities also drew a great deal of attention to the capital’s pavilion with smart apps which will certainly allow users to do just about anything at the touch of a button: register or renew a trade name for their business (Department of Economic Development); find out information about itineraries by air, land or sea (Department of Transport); view plots of land on a GIS layered map, inspect premises and note violations (Abu Dhabi Municipality); get real-time quotes, news and announcements to stay up-to-date with market activities (Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange); access services from traffic and licensing, civil defense, police headquarters, naturalization and residency (Abu Dhabi Police); get information on clinic and hospital locations, doctors and counterfeit medication (Health Authority); and explore everything the Emirate has to offer from attractions to culture and heritage, from hotels and restaurants to spas and malls (Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority); and much more.

Visitors on the pavilion also had a chance to learn about ADSIC’s shared government initiatives including Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre (800 555), e-Citizen Program, Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure, Abu Dhabi Portal (www.abudhabi.ae), CityGuard Application, Jobs Abu Dhabi (www.jobsabudhabi.ae) and the newly introduced government correspondence management system (Taresh).

“All of the friendly and accessible solutions showcased by the 22 Abu Dhabi government entities are once again proof of our continuous efforts to promote cooperation and to integrate on all levels. We are looking forward to next year’s edition of GITEX and to all the ground breaking and pioneering ideas that the Abu Dhabi e-Government will have come up with by then,” concluded Al Mansoori.
