Diabetes Prevention Awareness Program At MOI

To mark the World Diabetes Day, the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior organized a health awareness drive under the slogan “My Health”. As a part of the drive, which was organized in collaboration with Al Ahli Hospital, the department provided blood sugar and blood pressure tests as well as Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement for all of the Ministry of Interior’s staff members. This campaign falls in line with the ministry’s commitment to maintain the health and safety of its staff members; raise awareness; encourage healthy behaviors; improve methods of early detection; and reduce the incidence of diabetes and other diseases caused by lack of exercise and poor nutrition.

A number of officers, non-commissioned officers, constables, civilians, and female staff members from the various departments at the Ministry of Interior took part in the campaign and underwent medical examinations.

Colonel Hussein Al Awadi, Acting Head of the Public Relations Department, said that the campaign aims at boosting awareness among the ministry’s staff members about the benefits of early diagnosis and detection of all types of diabetes. “This can be achieved via efficient and comprehensive screening methods that avail the latest sophisticated equipment, the proper ways to control and manage this disease, and by promoting health awareness in pursuance of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to communicate with community institutions,” he added.

Towards the end of the lecture, Colonel Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Public Relations Department, presented a commemorative gift to the Director of Al Ahli Hospital in appreciation for their cooperation with the Ministry of Interior to promote health awareness among staff members.
