Thrilling Team Of Famous Authors And Illustrators To Fascinate And Inspire At Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival 2015

The 2015 Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) anticipates its most exciting year yet, with a sterling line-up of award-winning international-, Western- and Arabic children’s authors, poets and illustrators set to enchant and invigorate young and old minds alike. The fun-filled festival, now in its 7th year, kicks off on April 22nd and will provide constant compelling entertainment until 2 May 2015.

The programme will feature legendary creator of the popular Max and Ruby bunnies series Rosemary Wells from the US, young British writer-and-illustrator Alex T.Smith who is famed for his Claude series about a lovable yet eccentric beret-wearing dog, and the dynamically timeless and witty American author-and-artist Barbara McClintock.

Festival-goers can furthermore look forward to meeting a multitude of celebrated authors, including Costa Children’s Book Prize Winner, author of Posy and two-time Carnegie Medal nominee Linda Newbury (UK).

Also hailing from the UK is Dubai resident Julia Johnson. Having penned over a dozen stories for children over the past 14 years, Johnson is a familiar face in the UAE due to her popular readings of children’s stories on Dubai Channel 33.

Other guaranteed favourites are Sarah Moore Fitzgerald (US) whose second novel has been shortlisted for 3 literary prizes - including the Waterstones Children’s Books Prize - Best Book for Teens 2015, and Canadian Rukhsana Khan, an award-winning author and storyteller whose stories have enabled children of all cultures to connect with cultures of Eastern origins, among many other prominent authors and illustrators.

While keen young readers have the chance to meet their favourite authors, they also have the opportunity to take part in an entertainment extravaganza, not to mention the mouth-watering cookery corner where international chefs will demonstrate and discuss flavoursome cooking for children, as well as the popular eye-catching illustration exhibition. From face painting to sand art, art workshops and story-telling, to special competition, puppet shows,  a host of debates, panel discussions, talks and workshops aimed at an adult audience - SCRF 2015 has something for all ages.
