Regional Sensations And International Superstars To Usher In 2018 With Abu Dhabi Crowds











Set to captivate audiences with eclectic events on New Year’s Eve, Abu Dhabi is ringing in 2018 with electrifying performances and thrilling concerts by regional and local performers, bands, DJ’s and an exciting mix of fun family activities. Headlining the spectacular four-day celebrations at the New Year’s Eve Countdown Village will be Emirati singing sensation, Hussain Al Jassmi, accompanied by multi-talented Egyptian music star Tamer Hosny. Abu Dhabi will also host live performances by Kadim Al Sahir, nicknamed the Caeser of Arabic music, Khaleeji superstar Balqees, and international pop star Katy Perry.

In line with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi’s mandate to promote the Emirate as a leading destination for entertainment, crowds can expect to celebrate this special occasion in style with Abu Dhabi being the only city across the Emirate to put on a spectacular firework show. The Abu Dhabi Corniche will be transformed into a bespoke New Year’s Eve Countdown Village featuring a retail zone, F&B area, roaming entertainers as well as a New Year’s Eve countdown timer.

The celebrations will conclude on Sunday, December 31st with a 90-minute concert, led by Hosny and Al Jassmi, supported by several other local performers, bands and DJs still to be revealed. This will be followed by a stunning laser, lights and confetti shower extravaganza as well as a memorable firework display with dazzling pyrotechnic effects to create an unforgettable start to 2018.

Arabic music fans can watch Kadim Al Sahir and Balqees in concert at Al Maryah Island on December 31st at 10pm Having sold more than 100 million albums during his music career spanning 30 years, Al Sahir will perform a repertoire of his timeless classics, including Ana Wa Leila, Ini Khayyartoki, Zidini Ishqan, Qooli Ohibbuka, and Ahibbini.

International pop star Katy Perry will perform her best hits at the annual du Arena New Year's Eve concert, including Firework and others from her latest album Witness. This unmissable experience marks the chart-topping singer’s second performance in the Emirate.
