Last Chance to Explore Emirati Traditional Games at Al Qattara Arts Centre

Launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the Emirati Traditional Games exhibition will soon be closing to the public on Sunday, 7 January 2018. Open to all at Al Qattara Arts Centre, the exhibition features commissioned artworks by six talented artists in the UAE, celebrating local games and national pastimes.

Celebrating traditional heritage elements, the exhibition displays artwork inspired by the games Emirati children created to entertain themselves in the past. With time, these traditional games became a crucial aspect of the heritage of the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition highlights six of the most popular local games: Al Teela, Habil Al Zaibal, Al Dusays, Al Zubout, Al Karabi and Al Miryhana.

Ayman Zedani, Areeb Masood, Roudha Al Shamsi, Ayesha Al Mheiri, Michael Rice and Maryam Al Suwaidi each selected one game and adapted a work that merged their unique technical skills with the traditional themes of the games.

The Emirati Traditional Games exhibition will close on Sunday, 7th January 2018. Open Saturday to Thursday at Al Qattara Arts Centre from 9am – 8pm.  Closed on Fridays.
