Special Fares Offered From Abu Dhabi To South Africa

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced special deals to six cities across South Africa, offering a multitude of holiday options to customers as well as the chance for rugby fans to head down to catch the British and Irish Lions tour.

The promotion includes return economy flights from Abu Dhabi to Johannesburg from Dhs 1,490; Durban from Dhs 1,800; Port Elizabeth from Dhs 2,200; Cape Town from Dhs 2,200; East London from Dhs 2,200 and Bloemfontein from Dhs 2,200 (all fares exclude taxes and surcharges).

For those customers looking to soak up the full South African experience, a ‘golden triangle’ deal is on offer. This trip includes return flights from Abu Dhabi to Johannesburg and also takes in domestic flights to Durban and Cape Town, all from Dhs 2,200.

Adrian Parkes, Etihad Airways’ vice president sales, said: “The special South Africa promotion offers travellers the opportunity to see one of the most awesome countries in the world for a fantastic price. Rugby fans can also get a great last minute flight down to South Africa to soak up the action and atmosphere on this historic Lions tour.

“The South African community in the UAE and across the Middle East continues to grow and we are anticipating a great deal of demand for these great prices during the next three months.”

Etihad began flying to Johannesburg in December 2005 and the route has proved immensely popular with business and leisure air travellers since its launch. The three flights a week service increased to daily in August 2007.

Customers can access the special promotion at a number of different outlets such as the Etihad shops in Khalidiyah Mall, Wahda Mall and Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi, as well as the Marina Mall in Dubai and Bawadi Mall in Al Ain. Further details and bookings can be made at etihadairways.com or by calling 800 2277.

Notes: The sales period for the promotion finishes on Monday 8 June 2009 and flights run until 30 September 2009. Terms and conditions apply. Domestic flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London and Bloemfontein are operated by Etihad’s partner South African Airways. Flights operated by partners are bookable via Etihad Shops and travel agents only.
