Celebrating Intangible Heritage and Diverse Traditions, My Heritage, My Responsibility Series Returns to Al Ain Palace Museum

As part of Al Ain’s calendar of cultural activities and events organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the My Heritage, My Responsibility series will return to Al Ain Palace Museum on 11th and 12th January 2018.

Featuring an array of evening events and activities, this series will focus on the variety of traditional performances typical to the different regions of the UAE; from the desert to the mountains, from the sea to the oases. My Heritage, My Responsibility will take place in the courtyard of Al Ain Palace Museum, where visitors will be able to experience some of the most unique Emirati performing arts including Al Hoolu, Al Hadwa, Al Rababa, Al Taghrooda, and Al Harbiya from 5pm. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a traditional market, a variety of Emirati cuisine, artistic workshops, and traditional games for children, in addition to cultural competitions open to all.
The programme celebrates the rich cultural history and heritage of the UAE and highlights the diversity in the customs and traditions of the different areas of the country, influenced by the landscapes and prevalent industries.

Considered one of the most prominent cultural destinations in the city, Al Ain Palace Museum narrates the story of UAE’s founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. With its unique and inherent Arabic identity, Al Ain served as his residence from 1946 until 1966.
