Ukrainian Ballet Troupe To Perform In Abu Dhabi

Poised to be an entrancing finish to the Abu Dhabi Classics 2017-2018 season, a troupe of Ukraine-based performers, the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, is set to take to the stage on 20th April at the Emirates Palace, headlined by Bolshoi Soloists Ivan Vasiliev and Maria Vinogradova, alongside the first Emirati ballerina Alia Al Neyadi.

Brought to the UAE under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Classics programme has successfully welcomed scores of classical music enthusiasts to concerts across some of Abu Dhabi’s most distinctive venues in the emirate.

The last performance of the season is anticipated to be a showstopper, mesmerising audiences with a story that chronicles the tale of Conrad, chief of the pirates and his love interest Medora, a young Greek woman. The performers will collectively bring to life iconic theatrical renditions of romance and adventure from Le Corsaire, a pirate tale and classical heritage ballet based on Lord Byron’s poem.

Renowned choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, who has dominated the Russian Ballet scene for more than 30 years, appears for the first time in Abu Dhabi, showcasing the best of his choreographed works at the Emirates Palace.
