Emirates Diplomatic Academy Appointments First Happiness Ambassador To Celebrate International Day Of Happiness











Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA), the UAE’s leading international relations and diplomatic institution, todayannounced the appointment of Mayyasa Al Yammahi as its first Happiness Ambassador. The announcement coincides with theInternational Day of Happiness that is celebrated around the world on 20March.

Al Yammahi currently holds the role of Communication Manager at EDA and isan existing Master’s programme student as well asan alumna of the Academy’s Postgraduate Diploma Programme in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations. In her new capacity, she will support the objectives of the UAE’s National Programme for Happiness and Positivity throughdeveloping and implementing a series of initiativesto increase employee engagement atEDA. 

Speakingon the announcement, Dr Nawal AlHosany, Deputy Director General of EDA, said: "The UAE was the first country in the world to establish a Ministry of State for Happiness and has,in a short span of time,made significantstridesin this emergingfield that has captured the global imagination. EDA is dedicated to supporting our government’s mandateto enhancehappiness and positivity in our community, as these crucial qualities have a long-termimpact on productivity, efficiency and, ultimately, the success of our Academy."

For her part, Mayyasa Al Yammahi said: “I am honoured to be appointedtothis importantrole. I believe that every workplace, whether it is a government entity or a private company,should have a Happiness Ambassador to promote the culture of happiness, positivity and cooperation amongst employees sothat they can collectively achieve their goals. It is important to remember that personalsuccess translates into organisational success and thatin turn drives the progress towards a better future.”

The UAE is the happiest country in the Arab world and ranks20th on the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s World Happiness Report 2018. The government aims to positionthe UAEamong the five happiest countries in the world by 2021.
