ACTVET Hosts First Meeting Of WorldSkills Asia General Assembly











 The first meeting of the WorldSkills Asia General Assembly, which started today at the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ACTVET, will be held for three days and is headed by Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of ACTVET, with the attendance of Ali Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Chairman of Emirates Skills at ACTVET, Fahar Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of WorldSkills Asia, and representatives of leading Asian countries.

Al Shamsi said that this important meeting will address the efforts of the UAE, represented by its capital, Abu Dhabi, to become the permanent headquarters of WorldSkills Asia, which will become a new accomplishment for ACTVET, in addition to its other international, regional and local accomplishments, and with the aim of implementing the directives of the wise leadership to promote technical education based on a strategy that complies with international standards, and achieve educational and industrial advancement in the Asian continent, in accordance with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence, AI, as well as progress in their technical and vocational education systems.

Al Shamsi added that the meeting also saw discussions on ACTVET’s preparations to host the first edition of the WorldSkills Asia Competition in Abu Dhabi from 24th to 28th November, 2018, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, with wide Asian participation.

Al Suwaidi said that the Asian countries are participating with officials and technicians, enabling the WorldSkills Asia General Assembly to implement the mechanisms and laws of the work of the organisation for different operations at various stages.

It also facilitates discussions on the importance of inviting several international companies to sponsor the organisation’s events, in addition to inspecting all the facilities and the preparations of ACTVET to host the competition in order to achieve the goals of WorldSkills Asia.
