Daman makes medical approval request tracking available to members

The National Health Insurance Company, Daman, has announced that members can now check and track medical pre-approval requests for the first time immediately after updating the Daman or Thiqa mobile applications to their latest versions.

The new feature provides Daman and Thiqa members with the latest status of their medical approval requests. Up to 21 requests can be viewed through the app concurrently with a notification feature set to be activated shortly.

Commenting on the advantages the new app will have, Dr Michael Bitzer, Daman Chief Executive Officer said, "This new feature comes in response to popular demand by members to be able to check and track approval requests that are sent from medical facilities to Daman on their behalf. It forms part of our significant emphasis on continuously improving members’ experience. The transparency offered by the new service is unprecedented, allowing our members to clearly see and understand the entire approval process as it develops."

"This has only been made possible through our recent and substantial investments in IT infrastructure which has focused on smart solutions and innovative customer-facing technologies. In combination with the existing ability to check financial claims made by medical facilities for services rendered to members, this major update to our apps delivers on our commitment to provide further clarity on the administrative and financial aspects between the member, Daman and the treating facility," he added.

When using the new service, members will be able to view the approval’s validity period, with the expiry date often being 30 days from the date of approval. In addition, all rejected pre-approval requests will be accompanied by a summary that details the reasons for the decision.

As with other features in the app, parents with children under the age of 18 will also be able to view their respective requests.

As part of the feature updates specifically for the Daman app, members will be able to save their bank account details – ensuring faster applications for reimbursement claims in future. Claims of up to AED15,000 can be made through the app by providing the relevant details, such as medical reports and invoices using their phone’s camera.

Daman confirmed as part of the announcement its intention to provide more frequent updates to their Daman and Thiqa mobile applications to ensure members receive new features and improvements as soon as possible.
