Bee’ah Hosts Harvard Delegation During Policy Visit to Sharjah











Bee’ah, the Middle East’s sustainability pioneer, hosted a delegation from the Emirates Leadership Initiative, at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, during their policy visit to Sharjah; as part of the Initiative's week-long immersion trip to the UAE. The session which was centered on the theme ‘Innovation in Government and Public Policy: Gender Inclusion and the Future of Work’, was held on the 26th of January, at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization.

The policy visit was aimed at enriching the delegation’s understanding of Sharjah’s regulatory framework and innovative approach to economic transformation, culture, technology and big data, environment, education, and government service delivery. Prominent Sharjah entities who have set new milestones in these areas took part in the event, and shared their respective journeys, achievements, success stories and unique insights with the visiting delegation. 

HE Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO of Bee’ah, said, “As a company that is investing in the future by improving quality of life, Bee’ah shares strong synergies with the Emirates Leadership Initiative, and its vision of shaping the next generation of leaders. Through today’s session, participants have been introduced to these achievements first-hand, by Sharjah’s industry experts. We believe this has enhanced their understanding of how Sharjah is pushing the boundaries in gender inclusion and redefining the future of work.”

The session, which commenced with a welcome note by HE Al Huraimel, Group CEO of Bee’ah, featured thought leaders such as Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi, Founder of Fikra Design Studio; Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of Development at Sharjah Art Foundation; HE Reem Bin Karam, Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment; HE Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of Hamriyah Fee Zone Authority (HFZA) and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone); Dr. Juan Sanchez, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at the American University of Sharjah; and representatives from Sharjah’s Department of Government Relations; the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa); Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; and Air Arabia.  
Commenting on NAMA’s participation in the initiative, HE Reem BinKaram said: “The Emirates Leadership Initiative provides an amazing opportunity to shed light on Sharjah’s pioneering role in fostering gender inclusion across multiple disciplines and sectors.

Our participation in this initiative stems from our unwavering commitment to translate the visions of our wise leadership to build a bright and prosperous future.”

During the event, the participants were also introduced to Bee’ah’s initiatives in pioneering sustainable quality of life in the region; including notable achievements such as the highest waste diversion rate in the Middle East; the UAE’s first waste-to-energy plant; and the net zero energy, smart headquarters of the company, which was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. 

The Emirates Leadership Initiative is a research and curricular collaboration between the Center for Public Leadership (CPL) and the Middle East Initiative (MEI) at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), and the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The initiative, which was launched in 2014, promotes educational exchanges between the UAE and US; in addition to training and empowering emerging leaders and public officials across the UAE and the Middle East.
