SRTI Park reviews their experience of combining innovation with business











Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park) hosted an event called "Innovation Champions”, where various representatives of government departments in Sharjah and a number of leading figures, scientists, entrepreneurs and experts participated.

The workshop discussed the future of innovation in Smart Cities. Participants were briefed on how to combine innovation and business. The day was spent developing participants’ innovative skills in topics such as data technology, address creation, internet technology and other topics.

The event follows the success of the "Future of Innovation and Smart Cities Project" held earlier last year and the completion of the strategic partnership launched by the SRTI Park with the "Catapult: Cities of the Future Alliance" developing innovative services and infrastructure to meet the smart needs of communities.

The partnership aims to enhance the successful cooperation between the UK and Sharjah, putting the park’s location on the map for future institutions, and making Sharjah a world-class research and technological center. In addition, to attract specialized investments in technology, research, innovation and knowledge. In order to achieve the benefit of the society and the knowledge and human economy as a whole, to consolidate Sharjah as a global capital for education, scientific research and innovation.

His Excellency Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTI Park, said: "The Innovation Pioneers Program is a true translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to make Sharjah one of the international capital for R&D innovation for the national economy.

Al Mahmoudi also stressed the importance of activating and strengthening cooperation between the research sectors and public and private investment sectors through the launch of qualitative partnerships in which SRTI stimulates investments in R&D and invited the various government sectors in Sharjah to share this vision and create innovation as part of culture in the government.

During his presentation, he spoke about how international companies can facilitate our lives smart solutions.

Dr. Amy Hoshadil, Director of International Business Development and Management, Catapult, said: "The workshop is an essential step in our joint efforts with Sharjah as part of our strategic partnership to strengthen the infrastructure to build an innovative knowledge economy and translate this through workshops.”

The workshop also highlighted ways to find innovative solutions for more sustainable cities and encourage adoption of innovation thinking.
