DCD Holds First General Assembly Of 2024 via ’Sharek’ Platform

The Department of Community Development - Abu Dhabi (DCD), the regulatory body for the emirate’s social sector, has reaffirmed its eagerness to host general assemblies in the first four months of the year, in line with the recent launch of the ‘Sharek’ platform.

The innovative Sharek platform allows public benefit associations licenced in Abu Dhabi to host general assemblies - whether in person, virtually, or hybrid - to increase community participation and the effectiveness of decision-making.

Mubarak Salem Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Social Licensing and Control Sector at DCD, emphasised the department’s encouragement for associations and civil society institutions to obtain licences, facilitating their operations within the framework of relevant legislation. Al Ameri highlighted the significance of acquiring appropriate licences, enabling associations and institutions to contribute effectively to society and promote comprehensive and sustainable development.

Al Ameri further highlighted the achievements of the ‘Sharek’ platform, noting the successful inaugural General Assembly of the Union for Human Rights Association earlier in the year.

The Association, comprising 16 specialised human rights fields, plays a pivotal role in offering advice, enhancing respect for human rights across various societal segments, and collaborating with international bodies to advance sustainable development goals.

Underlining DCD’s dedication to digital government transformation, Al Ameri stressed providing technical services to enhance customer accessibility, streamline processes, and reduce operational costs.

The Sharek platform, unveiled at the GITEX technology exhibition, serves as a robust meeting management solution, facilitating seamless meetings and elections while eliminating the need for physical attendance.
