Abu Dhabi Beaches and Flash Entertainment bring the world’s premiere wakeboard and music festival to the Abu Dhabi Corniche from March 4th-6th, 2010. World’s top Wakeboarders will be joined by a steller line-up of musicians and DJs for this unique three day family festival.
Abu Dhabi Beaches, in partnership with Flash Entertainment, the Abu Dhabi-based live events firm, today announced Wakestock Abu Dhabi 2010 will bring the world’s best wakeboarders to the Abu Dhabi Corniche from March 4-6, 2010.
In what is the latest exciting addition to Abu Dhabi’s sports and entertainment calendar, the introduction of the World Pro Tour Water Sports event marks the next chapter in the development of the Abu Dhabi Corniche and the delivery of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi city’s vision of the ‘ultimate beach experience’.
The announcement follows the tremendous success of the recent Flash event ‘Yasalam’ which attracted tens of thousands of people to the Corniche for world-class entertainment for free ahead of the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Wakestock Abu Dhabi will be the first stop on the 2010 WWA Wakeboard World Series and with the biggest names in the sport, World Pro Tour status and performances from great live acts and DJs, Wakestock has firmly established itself as the world’s premiere Wakeboarding and Music festival.
In addition to the world’s best wakeboarders battling it out head to head for a $50,000 prize purse, the event will feature live music from the some of the hottest international and regional acts around spread out over the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Over its 10 year history Wakestock has featured performances from acts such as Mark Ronson, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, N*E*R*D, Groove Armada, The Streets, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Duffy and the Happy Mondays.

As an official stop on the World Series, the event will contribute points to the world rankings ensuring the best wakeboarders in the world will be in attendance, showcasing this spectacular sport with a level of riding never seen before in the region.
The world’s top 16 riders have already confirmed their participation in the event and will have a shot at walking away with the richest prize purse in the sport.
Amongst the big name riders already confirmed to attend are current WWA World Series Champion Phillip Soven, WWA World Wakepark Champion Nick Davies, current US National Champion Adam Errington, current World Champion and King of Wake Champion Aaron Rathy, European Champion and four times Wakestock UK winner Dan Nott and wakeboarding legend Parks Bonifay.
The competition will take place just off Abu Dhabi Public Beach on the Corniche and will feature three massive custom-built floating rails specifically designed for the event. The use of these rails combined with the calibre of talent in attendance already confirmed will provide an awe-inspiring spectacle, along with inspiration for residents and visitors alike to get involved in the fastest growing water sport in the world.

The event will be free to attend and is part of Municipality of Abu Dhabi City’s commitment to creating a year-round program of world-class entertainment and city-wide activities for both residents and visitors alike.
