681 Employees Participated In 169 DOF Training Courses In 2009











The Abu Dhabi Department of Finance (DOF) has organized 169 training courses that were attended by 681 male and female employees working in various sections in 2009. These statistics were revealed by the Career Development & Training Section of the DOF today.

The training courses were organized in line with the recommendations of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the DOF, and the senior management. Sustained and continuous training has been embarked upon by DOF to enhance skills and capabilities of its employees. It is intended to help them reach peak performance and productivity levels.

HE Mohammed Sultan Gnome Al Hamli, Executive Director of DOF, said: “DOF is complying with guidelines on training and development of employees on an ongoing basis. We aim to create sophisticated mechanisms to cope with great developments that are being seen in the UAE and Abu Dhabi especially. We aim to develop active financial and effective resources management skills in our staff so that they can effectively contribute to UAE’s economic development”.

Issa Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Director of Human Resources said: “We have prepared training programs for DOF employees in accordance with the needs of different sections and departments. These programs cover various administrative and professional fields and will promote a performance excellence culture. We aim to enhance staff experience and raise practical and administrative competencies. We are encouraged by positive results of training, clearly reflected in performance and skills and have a comprehensive training plan for 2010 as well.”
The 169 training courses included 28 group sessions, 14 experience projects and 127 individual specialty sessions. Training courses were organized in accordance with sections needs and work requirements; study leaves were provided and flexible working hours were offered to evening trainees.

DOF also received 71 students from high schools, colleges and universities for its summer courses. They were sent to DOF sections compatible with their specialties. More such initiatives to train youth and strengthen their relationship with DOF and the nature of its work will be undertaken in future.

DOF’s Career Development & Training Section consists of 3 major groups - Career Development Team, Training Team and Scientific Support Team. In 2008, it began implementing Experience Projects to train a group of veteran staff to become lecturers so that they could share their experiences with colleagues.
