Saadiyat Beach Golf Club Opens Hawksbill Restaurant

TDIC-Developed Project ’Serves Up’ Latest Abu Dhabi F&B Offering

Abu Dhabi’s recently opened Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is looking to score an epicurean ‘hole-in-one’ with the launch of its stunning Hawksbill Restaurant – the emirate’s latest top-class F&B offering.

Named after the protected turtle species that use Saadiyat Island as a hatching spot, the Hawksbill Restaurant provides a truly unique dining experience and a refreshing alternative to the obligatory post-game venue for a quick bite and cool beverage.

Housed in the destination’s intimate Academy Building, the restaurant - with its comfortable indoor seating and sweeping terrace overlooking the rolling cascades of the Gary Player-designed course and its 120-yard wide, floodlight instruction area - has something for every mood.

“We really wanted to make a family friendly restaurant that had its own identity. The restaurant provides a relaxing homely environment where the service is friendly yet unobtrusive, the decor warm and inviting, and the food is designed to please golfers and non-golfers alike with a wide range of mouth-watering dishes,” said John Gunn, Director of Food & Beverage, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club - the Arabian Gulf’s first and only beachfront course.

“With service that is genuine and personal, in an impeccably chic and ambient setting, the Hawksbill Restaurant serves up the perfect way to relax after a day on the course, or for those just looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of city-life.”

One of the key elements of the 140-seater restaurant is its internationally-inspired food offering. The menu boasts a diverse array of items from all corners of the globe.

“With more than 60 dishes from around the world, I think you’ll always find something you like – from a Thai-inspired hearty soup and Pan Seared Salmon Steaks to a lightly infused salad to enjoy over lunch with friends. We also have an outdoor fire pit, which gives our offering a distinctively Middle Eastern flair,” added Mr Gunn.

Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the Abu Dhabi-based master developer of Saadiyat Island and its Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, has put extra emphasis on creating a dining environment that appealed to the wide-diversity of expected visitors, and reflected the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes.

Throughout the Hawksbill Restaurant, dark wood-panelled walls, tables and chocolate brown chairs are contrasted by white ceilings and an abundance of natural light streaming through from the outdoor terrace. Splashes of brown and grey are seen in the dining chairs and smaller decorative pieces to punctuate the fusion element are featured throughout.

Initially open from 6am-10pm daily, the restaurant is also being pitched towards corporate clients who can take advantage of its sweeping garden terrace to host functions for up to 250 people, back-dropped by the stunning vistas of Abu Dhabi city.

The Hawksbill Restaurant is the latest initiative to come online at the Championship-ready Saadiyat Beach Golf Club. Recently, TDIC unveiled plans for a Frank Gehry-designed clubhouse – the world-renowned architect’s first golf-related project.

Designed to meet Estidama regulations - the Abu Dhabi-specific building sustainability methodology – the 18,000sqm clubhouse is scheduled to be completed in 2012 and will include a boutique hotel with 26 deluxe rooms, two restaurants, a spa and a pro-shop.

Managed by Troon Golf, the world’s largest golf management company, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is the latest world-class golf destination in Abu Dhabi.

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is the flagship sports facility on Saadiyat Beach, a future magnet for high-end visitors and residents with its host of exclusive 5-star resorts that will create one of the world’s most premium and stylish destinations.
