National Drilling Company employees vote for Bu Tinah Island as one of the New 7 Wonders |

The National Drilling Company (NDC) is launching Encouragement Initiative within it’s employees in order to encourage them to take part in the international campaign organized by The Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi (EAD) and aims at listing Bu Tinah Island as one of the "New7Wonders" of Nature. The campaign is in line with the integral role the NDC plays in the society, and in the context of it’s Social Corporate Responsibility efforts. The initiative was launched by NDC General Manager Abdulla Saeed Al Suwaidi who commenced the voting in a ceremony held at the company’s head office in Abu Dhabi and was attended by Abdul Rahman Bamajboor Al Sayari, Assistant General Manager - Operations, Anas Al Qubaisi, Asistant General Manager - Administration, and Faisal Al Jabri, Public Relations and Services Manager, along with other officials from the different departments. A short film about Bu Tina Island was screened, followed by a speech delivered by Mr. Al Suwaidi where he reiterated the importance of the campaign and expressed appreciation and admiration for the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of EAD, whose the campaign takes place under his patronage. ’’Such efforts resulted in shortlisting of Bu Tina Island among 28 finalists from a list of 447 sites in 224 countries,’’ Al Suwaidi said. Mr. Al Suwaidi urged all NDC staff members to participate actively in the poll through logging into the web link that has been established in NDC workplace screen for this purpose, he also explained that a mobile phone service will be provided in other locations to enable all employees to participate in the poll through SMS service. The official declaration of the "New7Wonders’ of Nature will be on November 11, 2011, where the other three finalists in the islands category are the Maldives, the Galapagos in Ecuador and South Korea’s Jeju Island.
