EAD Goes Pink To Commemorate International Month For Breast Cancer Awareness

The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) commemorated the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. EAD, in collaboration with the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), organised an informative seminar on breast cancer, distributed pamphlets and giveaways on last Wednesday. Trained medical staff encouraged attendees to get tested, as early detection helps increase rate of survival. Additionally, both female and male staffs were encouraged to wear pink ribbons, pink shirts, pink-lined sheilas/abayas or pink ties to work for the day.

Commenting on this special event, H.E Majid Al Mansouri, Secretary General at EAD said: "Breast cancer is a serious disease that can affect our loved ones and our families. We support our partner HAAD in raising awareness of this disease, and equipping staff with knowledge, as knowledge is power and can help increase chances of survival."

Being identified by HAAD as the most common form of cancer among UAE women, breast cancer accounts for 28% of all female deaths according to the Authority. Efforts to raise awareness have proven to improve the situation as HAAD has recently observed a decrease in late disease detection cases.
