Al Rahba Hospital "Stays Pink" On The Last Day Of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hospital spotlights ongoing mammography services offered through Women’s Health Program, as well as the latest advancements of its screening facilities

Hosted by the Women’s Health Program at Al Rahba Hospital in Abu Dhabi, visitors and patients take home information kits after speaking directly with physicians during the hospital’s month-long Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. All of the hospital’s doctors, nurses and management have committed to “Stay Pink” on October 31st and make special efforts to communicate to patients the ongoing mammography services available at the hospital.

Recently launched at Al Rahba Hospital, the new Digital Mammography Unit marks the latest digital imaging technology with all necessary mechanical and software features available on site. According to hospital representatives, screening procedures were also specially designed to accommodate the cultural customs of the region.

In UAE, breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer in women among both nationals & expats. According to hospital representatives, women age 40 and older should at least have a mammogram every two years and should consult with their physician if more frequent screenings are recommended due to family history or other factors, continuing to do so for as long as they are in good health. Women in their 20s and 30s should also have a clinical breast exam (CBE) as part of their regular health examinations, preferably every three years.
