More than 15,000 fans welcome the Jonas Brothers to Abu Dhabi

Opening night of Yas Island Show Weekends starts with a bang as Yas Arena is inundated with Jonas Brother’s fans of all ages

More than 15,000 screaming fans last night took over Yas Island to see The Jonas Brothers open the Yas Island Show Weekends, a series of world class concerts and free entertainment running across Yas Island.

The Jonas Brothers’ first concert in the Middle East saw them perform their most popular hits such as Burnin’ Up, Lovebug and SOS. The multi award winning brothers wowed the arena, which was packed with their adoring fans, who came from across the region bringing with them their colourful homemade signs.

Only a few days after the successful after race concerts, Yas Island was once more buzzing with energy as thousands of adoring fans filled the hotels on Yas as they prepared for The Jonas Brothers concert and the free events taking place over the weekend at Gateway Park south.

John Lickrish, Managing Director of FLASH Entertainment speaking on the night said: “The first Yas Island Show Weekend has been an unbelievable success - over 15,000 screaming fans are testament to this. Having The Jonas Brothers as the first act to launch the month long programme was a real treat and they certainly didn’t disappoint – it is clear why they have such a big following!”

The Jonas Brother’s concert was the perfect start to a weekend of free family fun entertainment. The activities running on Friday and Saturday across Gateway Park South on Yas Island include a Kids fun Zone, performances by Bboy group Mighty 4, a cartoon parade, an Alice in Wonderland themed parade, and an open air cinema that will have screenings of Camp Rock, featuring The Jonas Brothers and the modern teen classic, the first High School Musical 3.

Yas Island Show Weekends will continue on for the next month, welcoming superstars Nelly Furtado, Tinchy Stryder, Taio Cruz and legendary rockers Guns N’ Roses, as well as David Guetta and Dizzee Rascal at the biggest dance festival in the Middle East - Creamfields Abu Dhabi 2010 – and the three-day long free basketball festival NBA Jamfest Abu Dhabi 2010 making it’s Middle East debut.
