Etihad Recognises Young Innovators At Mosaic Awards

Etihad Airways continues to celebrate the work of young Muslims through its sponsorship of the Mosaic Talent Awards 2010.

Etihad, which partners Mosaic for its annual Leadership Summit, was sponsor of the International Award at the London awards ceremony last month. The International Award recognises a young Muslim or Muslim group who delivers significant social benefit to their community.

The winner of the International Award for 2010 was Korvi Rakshand Dhrubo, a 25 year old Bangladeshi who was credited by Mosaic for dedicating his life to breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

Known today as the Jaago Foundation, the youth-based movement established by Korvi operates a free of cost school that provides education to the impoverished children in the slums of Rayer Bazer in Bangladesh, in addition to conducting programs on women empowerment, job creation, and health.

Anne Tullis, Etihad Airways’ Head of CSR and Sustainability, said: “We would like to congratulate Korvi on this tremendous achievement. He has shown huge dedication and commitment to educating those less fortunate than him in his home city and truly deserves the plaudits that come with this Mosaic Talent Award.”

The prestigious Mosaic Talent Awards were attended by Mosaic’s Chairman, HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan of Jordan and as Guest of Honour her father HRH Prince Hassan of Jordan.

John O’Brien, Mosaic Managing Director, said: “We are very grateful for Etihad’s support with the Mosaic Talent Awards and the part the airline plays in bringing together these emerging young leaders from around the world.”

Mosaic’s mission is to create opportunities for young people, championed by Muslims and harnessing the power of positive thinking.

For the last two years, Etihad has been a key partner of the Mosaic International Summit which draws together young leaders from across the world in a forum to support them in their careers and communities.

The Summit delegates fly with Etihad from Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to the Summit where they spend two weeks hearing from expert and inspirational speakers, taking part in discussion and debate, and finally, planning how they will put their learning into effect on their return home.

Three Etihad Airways employees this year participated in the Mosaic International Summit. The delegates, members of Etihad’s Emiratisation programme, were Aisha Al Ameer, Shaeb Alnajjar and Najla Al Nahdi.
