Etihad Airways Staff Donate Funds To Emirates International Mobile Humanitarian Hospital In Pakistan

To support the relief efforts in Pakistan, Etihad Airways staff members have donated funds to the Emirates International Mobile Humanitarian Hospital (EIMHH) based in Pakistan, enabling them to purchase new cardiac monitors and paediatric medication.

The staff’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative was launched in the wake of the devastating floods that swept over nearly a quarter of Pakistan’s total land area in July this year, affecting over 20 million people. Funds were donated anonymously by Etihad staff based in the UAE and across the airline’s network.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are extremely proud of our staff for coming together to contribute to such a worthy cause.

“Working with the Emirates International Humanitarian Hospital in the past has allowed us to channel our efforts into areas in Pakistan that require the most support. EIMHH is on the forefront of relief efforts from the UAE to Pakistan and to countries all over the world. We are fortunate to be one of their partners in their mission of providing medical aid and relief to the thousands of disaster victims across Pakistan.”

Etihad has been working closely with the Pakistan authorities to transfer medical supplies and humanitarian aid to the country. Earlier this year, Etihad launched its inaugural flight of its A330-200 freighter aircraft to Pakistan, filled with relief supplies.

During the Holy month of Ramadan, Etihad teamed up with EIMHH and Etihad brand ambassador ‘Strings’ to deliver over 1000 Eid gift packages filled with toys and other relief items to the displaced children of camps across Southern Pakistan.

Dr Adel Al Shamry, Chief Executive of EIMHH, said: “We are delighted to be working with the national airline of the United Arab Emirates in our relief projects.

“It is important that organizations from Abu Dhabi and the UAE, such as Etihad and EIMHH, work together to ensure that our charity efforts are combined to deliver the most impactful result. There are limitless possibilities of what we can achieve together and I am pleased that we have begun to discover them with Etihad Airways.”

The EIMHH continues to support flood victims in Pakistan with its focus on the prevention and treatment of children diseases. The mobile, elaborate medical facility travels through the Sindh region offering free medical care, ICU, diagnostics, pharmacy and other services by engaging Doctors and staff from Canada, France, UAE and Pakistan, Syria and the Philippines. EIMHH has other various initiatives across the world including in Morocco, Egypt, India and Sudan.
