First Tim Hortons In Sharjah Coming To Matajer Centres In H1 2012


Sharjah Holding Secures First Outlets Of Iconic Canadian Brand For Emirate Three Additional Matajer Centres To Open In H1 2012 - 80 Per Cent Preleased Annual Footfall Across Four Centres Of Ten Million Customers










Sharjah Holding JSC, the community focused real estate developer and strategic partnership between the Government of Sharjah and Majid Al Futtaim Properties, today announced that it will bring Tim Hortons, the iconic Canadian Cafe and Bake Shop chain to Sharjah for the first time in 2012.

Speaking at the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) REcon Middle East and North Africa event on 28 and 29 November 2011, the Company unveiled plans to open two Tim Hortons restaurants at Matajer Al Juraina and Matajer Al Migab which will be delivered in the first half of 2012.

Anchored by a supermarket anchor and featuring a range of high quality retail, food and beverage brands as well as services, the Matajer concept has been developed to bring the design, quality and ambiance that consumers have come to expect from larger format Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls to local communities.

Sharjah Holding delivered its first Matajer centre in the Al Quoz district of Sharjah in September 2011, and will open three more centres in the first half of 2012, which are already 80 per cent pre-leased. These deliveries will bring the total Gross Leasable Area (GLA) across the four Matajer centres to 167,716 sq ft and an expected annual footfall of ten million customers. More locations in Sharjah are under consideration as the company looks to meet the growing consumer demand for community retail.

Commenting on the news, Walid al Hashimi, CEO of Sharjah Holding JSC said:

The Matajer concept is an ideal platform to launch “Tim Hortons” Cafe & Bake Shop in Sharjah and will allow us to reach the diverse communities there.”
