NBAD Participates In National Career Exhibition In Sharjah 2012

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, will participate in the National Career Exhibition at Expo Centre Sharjah from 22nd to 24th February 2012 as part of its drive to attract, retain, and continuously develop the skills of UAE nationals.

“Participating in career fairs gives us a great opportunity to meet job seekers and identify and recruit promising candidates,” says Ehab Anis Hassan, the Group Chief Human Resources Officer at NBAD. “We offer great opportunities for ambitious UAE nationals of different background and preferences to build successful careers in banking and we are committed to supporting the progress of the young potentials. This is why NBAD continues to develop Emiratisation recruitment and training programmes to meet the market demands for skills and talents.”

NBAD has launched several Emiratisation programmes to develop and maximise the potentials of UAE nationals in different stages. For instance, under the AFAQ Management trainee Programme, NBAD sponsors a Master of Science in Finance by recruiting recent university graduates who exhibited great motivation and the potential to grow into future leaders. The recruits complete post graduate certificate which is equivalent to half of the Master’s requirement in the first year by studying fulltime at the academy. During this period, they receive full employment salary. After the first year, AFAQ recruits are assigned to their permanent position. While they work fulltime, they continue studying part-time toward the completion of the Master’s Degree.

The Bank also offers UAE national staff Al Sadara programme where they can earn a professional Diploma in Banking and Finance and gain work experience simultaneously.

In addition, NBAD offers high school graduates the chance to pursue a career path at branches or departments while availing to them excellent training at NBAD Academy through enrolling them to Al Bedaya programme. Successfully completing 12 months, Al- Bedaya programme trainees will gain associate degree in banking and finance from Higher Colleges of Technology.

Recently, NBAD launched Tomouh to sponsor young UAE nationals who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements to pursue bachelor degrees at prestigious international universities. The Bank also sponsors enrolled university students by paying a monthly allowance through Mustaqbali programme. The UAE nationals in these programmes are guaranteed internship and recruitment upon graduation.

“In addition to career development programmes NBAD offers attractive compensations and benefits packages for its employees, says Suaad Al Shammari, the Emiratisation Manager at NBAD.

“The Bank has successfully increased Emiratisation from 30% in 2008 to 39% by end of 2011 and this year we aim to recruit over 100 UAE nationals to meet the Government’s mandate of 40% Emiratisation,” she adds.

In recognition of its achievements, NBAD has won a number of awards and recognitions for its Emiratisation programmes and record. Michael H. Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD, won the Best Emiratisation CEO award in Banking Sector from Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial studies in 2009. NBAD won the Human Resources Development Award in Banking Sector for 2008 for its successful Emiratisation programmes, the second year in the row NBAD has won this prestigious Award.

NBAD will participate in the National Career Exhibition to be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on March 5, 6, and 7. Furthermore, the Bank will take part in open days to be held in key universities in the UAE such as Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology and Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
