300 People Participate In The Emirates Arthritis Foundation 3rd Annual Walkathon On 12th March 2010

The 3rd Annual Walkathon for the Emirates Arthritis Foundation (EAF) took place on 12th March 2010, at Dubai Festival City, starting at a foggy 7am. With 300 participants either walking or running, this community event was a great opportunity to meet with friends, get healthy, whilst raising awareness and funds for an extremely deserving cause.

Fun Run winners were as follows:
1st William Broadway – won a 6 month membership to Fitness First gyms
2nd Sanjeev Kulkarni – won AED 500 Royal Sporting House vouchers
3rd John McKinlay – won a 3 month membership to Fitness First gyms

Walkatjon Under 15 winners as follows:
1st -Ryaan Basheer
2nd - Jake Kalvert
3rd - John Lewis

This charity-led event raised outstanding awareness for the Emirates Arthritis Foundation – which supports those living in the UAE who cannot afford the appropriate healthcare services they need.

All participants in both the Walkathon and Fun Run received a t-shirt, one week’s membership at Fitness First, a wristband, a certificate - and one lucky Walker won a weekend for two people at Qamardeen Hotel, Dubai.

Arthritis affects 1 in 5 people worldwide. The average age of Arthritis sufferer is 43 years old. It is not just about old people but young people including children, can suffer from this debilitating disease. Not only affecting the joints, but skin, eyes, lungs and hearts.
