SportAccord International Convention was originally launched in 2003 in order for the Associations and the International Federations to increase efficiency by holding all of their annual meetings at the same time and place, and also as a commercial platform whereby the sports industry could have ’one-stop-shop’ access to all the world governing bodies and their key decision-makers.
Since 2003, when SportAccord International Convention first took place in Madrid, the event has been held in Lausanne, Berlin, Seoul, Beijing, Athens, Denver and now in Dubai, allowing attendees to experience the culture and hospitality of colleagues all over the world.
Every year SportAccord International Convention Week features a dynamic exhibition, numerous networking receptions and top-level conference sessions, including the City Forum, as well as the annual general meetings of the Sports Governing Bodies. The Convention attracts over 1,500 leading representatives of international sport which this year will include the likes of FIFA President Joseph Blatter.
