Service Innovation Department at Dubai Customs organized an Open Day for the British University in Dubai (BUiD) at Dubai Customs’ main building. The Open Day was meant to encourage local staff to further their higher education. The event covered the latest trends, opportunities and challenges that face innovation in government services, artificial intelligence, information security and corporate risk management.
The Open Day initiative is part of a partnership agreement signed by Dubai Customs and BuiD in April that serves as the foundation stone of a long standing coherent relationship between the two entites that is based on mutual interests and respect.
BUiD’s delegation included Dr Khalid Al Merri, Assistant professor of Project Management, Professor Abdullah Mohammed Alshamsi, IT Department, and Dr. Maria Papadaki. Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering.
BUiD offers postgraduate degree programmes and Continuing Professional Development programs in disciplines which have been selected for their relevance to the UAE and the Middle East region. BUiD degree programs are based on similar high quality programs of international standing that are offered in our partner universities.
BUiD is organized around specialized faculties. The Faculties offer postgraduate programs and strive to be centers of excellence for research in their respective disciplines through shared environments with the UK partners. There are three faculties at the moment, namely Faculty of Education, Faculty of Business, and Faculty of Engineering and IT.
Each Faculty houses different Masters and Doctorate programs. In addition to faculties BUiD has other academic units such as Academic Success Unit, Doctoral Training Research Centre, the Library, and more.
Hussam Juma Mohammed - Director Service Innovation department of Dubai Customs applauded the event and its importance in supporting Dubai Customs staff and guiding them on their educational quest.
He said: “It’s a chance for our employees to learn more about the programs, training opportunities and courses BUiD can offer especially in modern topics in information technology and innovation”.
