Dubai Customs has claimed a coveted international award of distinction in Enterprise Architecture. The Award of Distinction is conferred annually by the Open Group, a global technology, research and innovation consortium headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA.
Dubai Customs was announced as ‘Distinguished’ organization in Enterprise Architecture during the Open Group Conference and Awards 2017 for Innovation and Excellence in Enterprise Architecture held recently in Bengaluru, India.
The award’s jury evaluation parameters were based on TOGAF framework - the de facto global standard for Enterprise Architecture used by the world’s leading organizations to improve business efficiency. Dubai Customs was recognized for vigorously and efficiently adopting these standards, outshining over 30 contestants among leading organizations from the United States, UK, Australia, India and other countries.
Director of Dubai Customs Ahmed Mahboob Musabih was very happy with the great global achievement upon receiving and congratulating the winning team behind the distinction trophy, in the presence of Juma Al Ghaith, executive director of Customs Development Division and Hussam Juma, director of Service Innovation Department. He said that Dubai Customs’ longstanding efforts in enterprise capability building have started paying dividends when it comes to improving efficiencies in our Customs operations.
Dubai Customs is the first government department in the Arab world to implement Enterprise Architecture standards through the Business Capability Management initiative, the latest GII certified innovation. Business Capability Management provides a comprehensive connected view of DC’s corporate capability in terms determining strengths and areas for improvement while enabling prompt and informed decision-making and efficient change management.
Commenting on the achievement, Hussam Juma said that the Open Group’s Award of Distinction in Enterprise Architecture is a global acknowledgement of DC’s endeavours to develop corporate excellence on par with world-class standards and practices.
“This is a testament that Dubai Customs has come a long way in the adoption of Enterprise Architecture standards with noticeable focus on development, innovation and business capability improvement, in line with the fourth generation government excellence system of Dubai Government,” he noted.
Hussam added that the Service Innovation Department of Dubai Customs is committed to driving innovation and creativity to come up with new smart services and innovative projects that would better serve Customs work. The ultimate aim is to harness these innovations for more cost savings on transactions delivery and increased operational efficiency, as well as building DC’s corporate capacity to continue improving to be able to face challenges in a such a fast-changing business environment.
