Dubai Customs received a delegation from Dubai Statistics Center who came to learn about the best innovative practices and procedures within Dubai Customs. Hussam Juma, Director, Business Innovation Department, received the delegation which included Naima Abdullah, Head of Creativity and Innovation Unit, Muna Sultal Al Rumaithi, Head of Client Service Section, and Louai Mahmoud Halas, Expert in Quality Assurance Systems.
Hussam Juma briefed the visitors with the best innovation practices applied in Dubai Customs which serve its vision of becoming the world leading customs administration supporting legitimate trade. The visit helped enhance cooperation between Dubai Customs and Dubai Statistics Center and exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two government departments.
Hussam Juma talked about the roles the Service Innovation department has including building of service innovation and smart transfer strategies and automation of services and operations, amongst others. These innovations saved more than AED 214 million in three years, and more importantly, raised the Department’s profile as a world leading customs administration, he confirmed.
“Dubai Customs has a work environment that encourages innovation and new ideas. Our innovations have been rewarded. We recently received a Certified Innovative Organization certificate from the Global Innovation Institute (Gini). We are proud to be the first government department to have received this certificate. In general, we have received 62 international, regional and local awards in innovation between 2010 and 2016” Juma said.
The visitors thanked Dubai Customs for the valuable information and hoped for more coordination and exchange of expertise and knowledge in the future.
