Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a meeting to recognise the institutional and award winners of the 20th Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) and encourage future participants in the 21st DGEP. DEWA is actively working to advance excellence by establishing a creative and innovative approach. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Dr Ahmed Al Nusairat, Coordinator General of Dubai Government Excellence Program, Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and distinguished employees of DEWA all attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Al Tayer thanked DGEP for its role in developing the performance of government departments, through continuous training and follow-up. He also praised the efforts of DEWA staff for their achievements, and for winning the Leading Government Entity Award.
“It is with pleasure that I welcome you all at our meeting today, which includes a selection of our distinguished employees who have been selected based on their outstanding achievements at DEWA. We are all working to raise the performance of government work according to innovative global standards, which translates into the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to adopt a model based on innovative criteria and standards that achieve the highest levels of happiness in the community, and enhance the competitiveness of our nation. This proves your keenness to continue the path of success at DEWA, to achieve the highest international standards. On this occasion I would like to thank you all for your efforts to continue our journey towards excellence,” said Al Tayer.
“Excellence is the focus of our meeting today. This is of considerable importance to DEWA because we are developing rapidly. So we need to continuously raise the quality of our services and acquire new skills, to further improve. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, our leader in our journey of excellence, once said that, "Our aim is to make happiness a lifestyle in the UAE community as well as the noble goal and supreme objective of the government." His Highness believes that policies, programmes, services and work environment in ministries should focus on happiness and enhance joint coordination with the private sector to achieve this. During the launch of the fourth generation of the government excellence system, the first of its kind in the world, His Highness identified the basic features and proactive approaches for future governments, which were based on achieving the best accomplishments in various sectors of government, to reflect positively on the level of services provided to citizens,” added Al Tayer.
“DEWA has put in place the mechanisms to implement the system to innovatively upgrade government work. Its priorities are to achieve results and build capacity through innovative means, focusing on the main works as an essential entry point for DEWA’s excellence, and achieving excellence in the government’s performance, by keeping pace with the latest international programmes for administrative development and excellence; providing the highest quality government services and adopting best international practices to achieve the happiness of the people. To achieve these objectives, we work on developing plans, strategies and follow-up implementation, and then evaluating the achievements and results according to the technical and administrative performance indicators adopted, in addition to measuring the opinion of partners and stakeholders. We have an environment conducive to excellence, creativity and innovation, through which we seek to activate the possibilities and adoption of modern systems to achieve outstanding results that ensure our global leadership. We adopt a flexible strategy that is directly linked to the Dubai Plan 2021, and is fast and efficient in responding to government strategic changes and trends; a key success factor in strategic planning and management. These plans and strategies and their follow-up contribute to achieving economic, social and environmental sustainability, keeping abreast of global developments and smart technologies to develop business mechanisms that enrich the experience of customers and provide seven-star service,” said Al Tayer.
“In order to achieve the ambitious vision of the UAE to be one of the best countries in the world in 2021, and in line with the UAE government programmes and pioneer projects in government development and the development of modern services and trends in government work, we cooperate with the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) to raise the level of administrative efficiency in government institutions, through standards and indicators that measure performance related to the efficiency and effectiveness of government work, to achieve the best results, and our customers’ happiness,” said Al Tayer.
