Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received Austrian Chancellor, Christian Kern, and his accompanying delegation, at the Zabeel Palace on Thursday evening.
The meeting was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
While welcoming the guests, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, said that the visits between the UAE and Austrian officials would further strengthen bilateral relations and co-operation in the best interest of the two countries.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and Kern, who is visiting the UAE for the first time, discussed the potential of the two countries to expand trade, tourism and cultural partnership. They also considered joint action to develop private-investment collaboration in both countries.
Kern said that the presence of 300 Austrian companies operating in the UAE, reflects positively on the economy of the two countries, referring to the remarkable progress witnessed by the UAE over the last 10 years.
He expressed his admiration for the cultural and social development of the UAE, thanks to the wise leadership's vision in building a diverse and cultured society that lives in safety, stability and peace.
The Austrian Chancellor wondered how the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed has helped achieve remarkable development and made Dubai a global city with a host of achievements and landmarks. Sheikh Mohammed told Kern that he "thinks, plans and does not hesitate to take a decision."
Among others present were H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation; Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and CEO of ADNOC Group; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director of His Highness Ruler of Dubai's Court; Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Protocol and Hospitality Department in Dubai, and Dr. Andreas Liebmann, Austrian Ambassador to the UAE.
