Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) sent two DEWA employees to New York, USA, from 15 to 20 May 2017. They will join a delegation of 17 employees from various Dubai government organisations, to attain their Masters of Science degrees. The programme has been organised under the patronage of Smart Dubai Office and Dubai Silicon Oasis, in cooperation with the University of Rochester for Science and Technology. The programme will educate students about best practices in smart city development in New York. It also allows for students to exchange knowledge and take advantage of global expertise, and learn about the latest smart innovations from experts in smart city development.
“In adherence with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and to achieve the objectives set by the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Plan 2021, DEWA sent two of its employees to attain their Masters in Science degrees at the Rochester Institute of Technology, to take advantage of the best practices and experiences. This will enable students to gain experience and global expertise, while qualifying them to become the next generation of creative leaders, to drive the sustainable development of the Emirate. This reflects DEWA’s efforts to support the vision of the wise leadership, to strengthen government services, and achieve the Smart Dubai initiative, to transform Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
