Following the wise directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and in a step to reduce wedding party extravagant costs, Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) is ready to hold its staff mass wedding for the sixth year in a row, with the participation of the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). 100 would-be brides and bridegrooms will have their wedding day under the theme “Emirates of Happiness” in Grand Hayyat Hotel on Thursday 25th May 2017.
Commenting on the preparations, Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department, Head of Mass Wedding Committee said: “PCFC has done all necessary preparations to host its sixth mass wedding, with the participation of GDRFA for the fourth year in a row. This supports the UAE’s strategic plans including Dubai Plan 2021, and helps reduce cost for young people planning to get married.
Bin Gharib added:” The organization of this event reflects our efforts in helping families and supporting the community around us following the vision of the wise leadership”.
A training program on successful marriage was held recently in coordination with the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities(IACAD) where a number of awareness lectures were organized to educate young male and female people on the best ways to build a happy family.
The last five years saw five big mass weddings for 500 brides and bridegrooms, plus the organization of numerous lectures and awareness sessions.
These mass weddings are for male and female employees, their sons and daughters, and the offspring of retired or deceased employees.
Mashal Al Abdoul, one of the would-be bridegrooms in this year’s event expressed his gratitude and said: “This initiative is very necessary and helpful as it helps reduce marriage costs significantly. It’s a good start for a good and happy family”.
