Dubai Culture Highlights Dubai’s Thriving Artistic and Cultural Scene at Arabian Travel Market 2017

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, is participating at the Arabian Travel Market 2017 as part of Dubai’s stand. During its participation, Dubai Culture is focused on highlighting Dubai’s flourishing arts and cultural scene by showcasing artworks and live art installations as well as an exclusive collection of books at a Reading Corner. The event is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and runs from 24th to 27th April 2017.

Dubai Culture’s Studies and Research Centre has provided the books for a Reading Corner at ATM 2017, illustrating the Authority’s dedication to supporting local talents and establishing a knowledge based economy that prioritises healthy reading habits in alignment with the National Strategy for Reading 2016-2026. The collection includes works written by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as a number of heritage books and Artspace Gallery titles on art, creativity, innovation, and tourism.

At the Dubai Stand, artworks by Emirati artists including Abdul Qader Al Rais, Mattar Bin Lahej, Musab Al Rais and Dr. Najat Makki are being showcased in the VIP area, while Dubai's cultural and artistic scene is also being brought to life with live painting from Emirati artist Wesal. Dubai Culture is working with Dubai Tourism at several events like ATM 2017 to establish Dubai as a global cultural hub, and the Authority also supports a range of other activities that assist artists and cultural organisations in implementing their concepts and work, contributing to a rich artistic environment. The activities and events organised by the Authority are aligned with the Dubai Plan 2021, which furthers the Government’s vision of making Dubai a home to happy, creative and empowered people who proudly celebrate their cultural identities.

In addition, Dubai Culture is showcasing the Etihad Museum at ATM 2017 and also giving its visitors the ArtMap to celebrate the launch of the 25th edition. Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage through such initiatives, which take place throughout the year and benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors while also driving tourism – a core economic sector for the Emirate.
