Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised its 8th annual gala dinner, under the theme ‘Be Proud. We Are One World.’ This is part of DEWA’s efforts to support the vision of the wise leadership to promote the values of tolerance, cooperation, and coexistence, which characterise the UAE. The theme also underlines DEWA’s commitment to enhancing communications with its staff. The event was attended by HE Matar Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DEWA; HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA; HE Majed Hamad Al Shamsi, Board Member of DEWA, Executive Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents, and over 1,200 DEWA employees.
In his keynote speech, HE Saeed Al Tayer noted that the gala dinner’s theme complements the series of proud themes of previous years, reflecting the noble values and principles that the Founding Fathers have instilled in the hearts of every citizen, resident, and visitor to the UAE. These principles have flourished under the wise leadership led by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.
“The UAE is a unique example for promoting the values of tolerance, cooperation, and accepting one another, and a role model for the world in peaceful co-existence. In 2014, the UAE ranked first globally in peaceful co-existence among residents, according to a report issued by the UN International Organisation for Peace, Care and Relief. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasised that the UAE has always embraced openness, is governed by tolerance, and its renaissance is made by the contribution of all. His Highness once observed, ‘We always strive to entrench the values of openness and tolerance and will never step back. We welcome great minds from the 200 nationalities living on our country. The UAE is the land of opportunities and the best environment to bring dreams to reality and unleash exceptional potential and talents of people,’” said Al Tayer.
“At DEWA, we follow in the footsteps of our wise leadership. Our employees provide world-class services to over 790,000 customers in Dubai. This has made DEWA a role model for excellence locally and globally. This has resulted in achievements and top positions in various global indicators, making DEWA an international role model of efficiency, performance, excellent services, keeping up with the rapid developments, and anticipating and making the future. This is done through pioneering projects and initiatives that are based on a clear and comprehensive approach that focuses on innovation and early recognition of opportunities and challenges, analysing them and developing pre-emptive long-term plans to reach the government of the future. This helps us find innovative solutions for clean energy that ensures a clean and healthy environment and a brighter future for us, and for generations to come.
