Dubai Culture Lifts the Lid on its ’Reading Box’ Initiative |

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, kicked off the second edition of its ‘Reading Box’ initiative on Monday 20thMarch under the theme ‘A generation reads. A civilisation rises.’ The initiative is based at City Walk 2 and will run until 1st April 2017, opening its doors to visitors from 10am to 10pm on weekdays, and 10am to 12am on weekends. In support of the UAE’s National Reading Strategy, the National Month of Reading in March and the Dubai Plan 2021 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the ‘Reading Box’ offers a range of engaging activities for all ages with a special focus on happiness and positivity activities. Out of the several activities that took place at the ‘Reading Box’, there were sessions which included children enjoying reading workshop with Sheikha Al Marri, while the public was invited to participate in a ‘Happy Thoughts’ session by Abdulla AlKaabi, a ‘Mother and Happiness Programme’ by Dr. Rusul Al Nuaimi, and a ‘Letter of Happiness Lecture’ by author Mohammed Hamdan bin Jarsh. Additionally, an Islamic decoration workshop, an interactive workshop entitled ‘An Hour with a Friend’, and an origami workshop were conducted at the ‘Reading Box’. The second edition of the ‘Reading Box’ aims to instil strong reading habits across all ages in Dubai’s communities, while also reflecting the philosophy of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed by emphasising the importance of positivity and the crucial role it plays in motivating accomplishments, high performance and success in all aspects of life. The initiative is expected to attract thousands of children and visitors, spreading knowledge and promoting reading as a happiness tool for everyone. |
